Where it shows up is a matter of search engine optimization, and links to the site from other sites. You really can’t judge by position. That said, if you’re trying to figure this out prior to taking a job, I’d want to see other evidence besides Google positioning. Have you visited the workplace, for example?
Nope , its not necessary that you have a top 10 listing in google in order to get a Huge Amount of traffic . It is the best way though to get a lot of free targetted traffic . The Internet has evolved and due to the interactive and viral nature of websites like flashgames.com where you can email your friend with a link to a Flash game the biggest source of traffic is word of mouth . So , maybe the CEO’s claim is right and they do make 200k profit .
I checked their Alexa rating which I have linked below. It shows how much traffic they are getting. I would say that they are getting traffic through Google Adwords. Advertising a lot is the only way that they would get this much traffic. You do not necessarily get a lot of traffic because you are in the top ten, but getting a lot of traffic puts you in the top ten.
Ranking 114,953 in Alexa means the site has little traffic. And rightly so because the site has nothing on it except for the Adsense for Parked Domain Ads. You can’t find it in the search engines because it has NO CONTENT. It is merely a parked domain
It is HIGHLY UNLIKELY that the owner is getting $200K from a non-functioning parked domain. But since the owner was able to get this domain name in Adsense Parked Domain program, then it means he’s got thousands of domain names (this program will only accept you if you have a lot of domain names) and from that he could be earning the amount he says he does.
But definitely not from one site alone, but probably from his entire portfolio of parked domains
