And yes, the “profits” Big Oil will reap are STEALING. Click on the link and read the entire article yourself.
TOLD YA the invasion was ultimately about OIL. How ya feel about all them Americans being murdered NOW?
“The US government has been involved in drawing up the law, a draft of which has been seen by The Independent on Sunday. It would give big oil companies such as BP, Shell and Exxon 30-year contracts to extract Iraqi crude and allow the first large-scale operation of foreign oil interests in the country since the industry was nationalised in 1972”

I have seen several “answers” denegrating the article, without attempting to address the issue which the article brings up.
Which is: We started a war in Iraq. We killed hundreds of thousands of people who never did a thing to us. We caused over a million people to flee the country — doctors, architects, lawyers, artist, teachers, professionals. And now Big Oil is descending upon the sovereign state to **** up big money.
You don’t see anything wrong with that?
Oh–and for the person who said the silliest thing EVER about “we built the structure?”
Gee….that’s really good information to have. I’ll think I’ll get on the phone right now and call this carpenter I used to date……and let him know he can MOVE IN right away in any of the homes he built over the last 20 years.
That would require a time machine.
Go big Red Go
You do realize it was the companies mentioned above that built the oil infrastructure there in the first place. Iraq’s oil system is quite old and needs to be refitted. The country needs to make an income with out U.S. tax dollars as a subsidy.
THIS IS A LIBERAL RAG SHEET. GET SOME RELIABLE NON BIAS INFO.
Turn on C-Span and be prepared to barf.
The Republicans speaking out against the bill to tax big oil are vile creatures, are they not?
Not a damn thing and neither are you.
Yea, if it’s on the intranet it must be true…
This is an article written by some journalists in the UK bashing on the west. Since most people in the UK are against this war. I can hardly take it as a legitimate site.
You would rather Iran have it? I wonder what the price of oil would be then? Personally, I like driving my car.
You gave me a thumbs down just because I don’t agree with you?
Have you seen the draft law? Oil companies would have to pay Iraq for property rights in the oil reserves.
Just because you call it stealing does not make it so. If you pay for something, according to law, that is a purchase, not a theft.
By using inflammatory language, you lose all credibility. A more precise discussion would talk about whether there is a fair distribution of proceeds from the oil extracted.
Look at the actual distributions and talk about whether they are fair. Try to ignore the human rights butt-head who thinks Iraq will ‘lose out’. He is probably a chronic complainer. His sole purpose in life is to point out supposed injustice and he probably sees it everywhere he looks. The fact is that ‘Big Oil’, as you put it, will be generating mountains of money for Iraq.
First, I know that this is a BS website.
Second, Iraq has the 6th largest oil reserve, not the 3rd.
Third, the invasion was not about oil.
Fourth, if Western oil companies WERE to start buying oil from Iraq MAYBE OUR PRICES WILL GO DOWN!!
Last, I keep hearing about all the Americans who lost their lives in Iraq and I have a lot of sorrow in my heart for them and I feel honored by the sacrifice they have made for us, but let’s put this in perspective. The News Organizations are putting the casualty rate at about 3,000 service people.
IN 2006 3,000 PEOPLE DIED IN HIGHWAY ACCIDENTS ON FLORIDA HIGHWAYS.
That’s the same amount of deaths, in one year, in one state.
