Sorry to make this so long, but I had to say this:
I’m getting sick of people commenting that scene/emo sucks, they should die, etc. I made this for the hell of it, because I’m a fan of both subcultures and I know people from both. They’re both amazing. Now stop whining and just enjoy w/e music and fashion you choose.
Emo (because the scene one was too
long) according to urbandictionary:
vocals that dwell exessively on the singer’s feelings, especially melancholy remembrances of past relationships/mistakes in life. A form of music that diverged from punk in the ’80s, the name “emo” is derived from the emotive style of the lyrics and music. This genre has lately been marketed heavily by the music industry to teenagers with bands such as Dashboard Confessional and Taking Back Sunday, and has seen much commercial and mainstream success. The music has also spawned a subculture which conforms to certain conventions in dress such as tight sweatshirts, tight band T-shirts and horn-rim glasses. Adherents profess to exessively melancholy temperments. Males that adhere to the emo subculture are sometimes confused with metrosexuals; indeed the line between the two is somwhat blurred, though both groups claim to be intouch with their emotional side. The ephemeral and hackneyed nature of emo songwriting suggests that its audience will be restricted largely to teenagers. the genre suffers from a lack of credibility outside the aforementioned demographic group, much like current Nu Metal bands.
Visual Kei according to urbandictionary:
A type of Japanese Rock music (Jrock) meaning Visual Style Music (also known as VK ). Members of Visual-Kei bands stereotypically wear large, elaborately decorated costumes, makeup and feminine accessories. The hair is often dyed and extremely styled, or the band members will wear wigs that are easier to manage.
Usually, the visual-kei image is kept by indie Jrock bands. They will slowly grow out of it as they become more well known.
Most of the time, Visual Kei bands slowly work their way out of their visual image. This is most often caused by the band being signed to a major record label. To dress more normally means they are more widely accepted, which in turn means gross profit for the band and label; therefore the change is usually encouraged.
Contrary to popular belief, Visual-kei band members are generally not ********** but dress the way they do to gain fans, to bring attention to themselves and to build a following.
It is a stereotype that Visual-Kei music is crappy and the and makes up for it in looks. While it may be true that some bands sound similar, this is not true for all. Visual-kei too has it’s sub-genres, and different bands may portray different looks and sounds from others.
If one doesn’t take the time to delve further into Visual-kei, or Jrock in generally, how can one give a valid or unbiased definition of it?
By Saying only a few things, you are barely scratching the surface.

I like both genre’s, but I gotta say VK is more heavier. Although, I have seen heavy scene bands that look way better then some VK bands.

well It’s every emo (except for like 2) I’ve ever met anyway. hopefully people like you discribed actually exist.
oe no jodas el viusal kei es basura!!!
Okay, calm down. Two of my best friends are scene/emo and they know most of what they wear comes from visual kei/jrock. They’re actually really into An Cafe and SuG. They’re the cheeriest, most upbeat people I know, and ONE OF THEM IS ASIAN. Everything you said is based on stupid stereotypes.
basically=
jrock= made in late 80′s, most are happy, some have reason to be depressed and are.
emo= made in 2004-2005, in a vain attempt to make scene ‘the new punk’, they TRY to set themselves up a really **** life.
in conclusion, emos are pessimistic, narcissistic arses who will say things like ‘death to asians’ soon after they learn that all of their style was completely ripped from jrock. and the only hairstyles / fashion items they ‘made’ that weren’t complete rips from jrock *****.
yeah well it pisses me off when
people label themselves.
nice vid.
Yeah me to, I’m decora/visual kei.. -.-’
Not emo or goth.
So I’ve bought from lokisa a shirt wich says: Visual kei and a face mask also with visual kei..

you’re visual kei ?! wow…
same with me my friend -_- I wish people could stop with the labeling and just let people be who they are.
i’m visual kei and it pisses me off when people call me ‘goth’ (I’m too colorful for goth) ‘scene’ or ‘emo’ but i really like your video
that’s exactly what I’ve been thinking, I mean when you think about it many things seem to be copied
