  1. It failed in 1980. Look it up, please, and do not vote in November.

  2. Even the NEW YORK TIMES stated in the lates 70’s that the taxes were an abysmal FAILURE and had to be rescinded.

How does taxing anyone make their product lower in price?

  3. Well, sport, individuals pay all taxes. Who ultimately owns “Big Oil”? Yep, individuals. So if you tax big oil you tax people. Do you have any mutual funds that own big oil stocks? Ever hear of cutting off your nose to spite your face?

  4. you go ahead and tax big oil profits and see what actually happens. you will wind up paying the tax at the gas pump.
big oil is not making windfall profits, the government is. state and federal both. look up what windfall profits really means. it means anyone making a profit and not doing 1 thing to make the profit. like the state and federal governments.

  5. The tax is only going to get passed on to us the endpoint consumer!

  6. do you like to pay higher taxes? oil companies don’t like higher taxes either and they won’t pay them. a windfall tax would only raise the price of gas not lower it because oil companies would not supply as much. mr doodles

  7. I guess I’m one of those people…I just cant see the oil companies losing money if they can find away not to…it may take a little more paper work but in the end they will still make a good profit
say they make 10.00 and the profit tax is 2.00 they will add 2.00 then they will make 12.00 so their profit tax will be more so they will add even more and will continue to add until they are still pocketing their 10.00…the profit tax is a good idea it just wont work…they are not going to take money out of their pocket and just give it to the government…
