Correct me if I’m wrong here on these points:
-Big Government that regulates more business limits competition by its laws so that only the bigger corporations can profit. Such as the Pharmaceutical industry that controls the medicine. It makes it difficult for smaller business’ such as herbal or energetic to make money. But how else does it restrict it though?
-The above also restricts what the national wealth could get from all different kinds of business’ profiting. And with restricting what a business’ pays its customers, it makes it even more difficult for the business to make a lot of money and therefore add on to the national wealth.
-Big Government increase the spending and thus increases the taxes on us.
-Big Government limits people’s personal freedoms to choose from all kinds of products because big corporations took over all of them so the people can’t choose what they truly want.
Regulations are put in place to protect consumers. You should be confident that the toy you are buying doesn’t have lead, or that the medicine that you’re buying does exactly what it promises. You should be confident that the money you keep in the bank is safe because the banks aren’t giving loans to insolvent people. The age of ‘de-regulate everything’ is not popular with most US citizens anymore since they are starting to see the damage it causes, and it enriches nobody but the few at the top who have already shown they are not interested in making trickle down economics happen.
Republicans as well as Democrats like big government so your analysis is irrelevant to the current viable election choices.
Nevertheless, to address one of your criticisms, we have experienced unfettered capitalism in the past and that is why we have laws and regulations to address business practices.
In the past, businesses have exploited their workers, cheated their own shareholders, driven competitors out of business with unfair business practices and sold unsafe and shoddy and even lethal goods to consumers. In addition, they have ruined entire environments around them and even poisoned local residents. Regulations were developed to try to address these concerns.
Your points are excellent. Let me just add, that however controls bg government, controls it all.
Our form of government is limited by a Constitution. When our politicians follow the Constitution, we enjoy freedom and propserity. We are free of the curse of war. It’s when our politicians violate the Constitution, that we suffer the consequences.
So why do they do it? Why do our politicians violate their oath to the Constitution? Because they are paid to do it. They receive campaign contributions when they run for office, and they get well-paying jobs as lobbyists, and “consultants” when they retire for politics by the special interests.
What is the soluton? Simple. The American people need to watch our politicians. We cannot allow them to legislate in areas where they have no authorty, like education and energy. We need to ride they hard, after all, the politician is really a member of the Criminal Class. There is so much opportunity to steal and take bribes, that the crminally inclined will do whatever it takes to get one of those jobs. Honest people will not do these things. This gives an advantage to the criminal, and so, we end up with a disproportionate number of criminals in public office.
Sometimes the government needs to step in, such as to protect those who cannot protect or help themselves.
Well, that’s pretty hard to follow. ‘Business pays its customers?’ Huh?
But anyway, it’s all relative, isn’t it? We all know there cannot be zero government, right? So, is the current level of services provided, taxation levied, regulation imposed and economic control exerted “right”? Hard to say.
