earn income
gator girl! asked:

If I am receiving Social Security Disability Income benefits, am I allowed to earn additional income and if so, what is the limit? Is it per week, month, year?

  1. Yes, you can earn some income…it most likely varies by state and it is a monthly amount. I live in Conn. & I think the cap is under $900 a month. You better look into it with the social security office, because if you are on the books they may threaten to cut you down or to cut you off entirely. A friend of mine had a problem after she had been working part time – she was earning a lot of money per hour. Call your worker, who should be listed on your printout from the state and find out for sure. This way you’ll know exactly what applies to your individual case.

  2. $800 a month or so

  3. As a SS/DI recipient I was told I can work for 9 months and still collect full benefits, if I have a ticket to work. This is a program designed to get people off disability. You can find out about this program at. I am supposed to be terminal according to doctors, but I am increasingly finding it harder to live on what they give me. I am trying to get some help with returning to the work force, no one will hire me. If you can find any programs that are federally sponsored to help with retraining the disabled please pass the info on to others. We will starve before they raise the amount we are paid. Here in Texas they think we are paid to much, $643.00 is what I get, and I only qualify for $10.00 in food stamps, so why bother. I’d rather work to my death than try to survive like this.
