A really great resources is The Foundation Center website, at
They have a wealth of information, including an online tutorial about what you need to do to get your new nonprofit up and registered.
however, it is not an easy process, and once you’ve got the organization started, then you have to start searching for funding.
I suggest that you check around to find other organizations that serve the same mission, and contact them to see about the possibilities of teaming up with them for a specific project, or possibly working for them to gain valuable experience while satisfying your own charitable goals.
i’d research JobCorp and the steps they take
I know someone who has a non-profit called SOFTIN, one of the things they do is help youths, as well as many other areas. If you’d like their phone number, email me and I’d be happy to give it to you.
Good Luck!
